The length of time it takes to perform a thorough home inspection will vary on a number of factors such as the size of the home, its age, where its located and whether there are outbuildings etc. In general, though, you should expect roughly three hours for the home inspection to be completed.
Do I need to be there for the inspection?
It is a good idea for you to be present during the inspection for a few reasons. One reason is that you will get to know the house you are about to buy. The home inspector can point out areas that may need work or any defects with the property. That way you will have seen them first hand, rather than reading it on a report.
You will also become acquainted with features of the home that are important to know such as heating, cooling and plumbing systems etc. It’s wise to learn as much about the home you are purchasing as you can.
Your home inspector will be happy for you to be present for the home inspection, but if they are not, this is perhaps a caution against using them. If you would like to schedule a home inspection or have any other question, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
